The resort’s design blends classic Mediterranean elements with contemporary French touches, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding landscape, which forms the foundation of the resort's philosophy. The approach prioritises the preservation of the natural ecosystem, with native and local plant species carefully incorporated to maintain the area's landscape, where Mediterranean vegetation thrives under the protective canopy of Aleppo pines, mature olive trees, and fragrant herb bushes.

In line with this commitment to sustainability, Maslina Resort has invested in solar panels throughout the property, starting in 2022, with an annual energy saving of 120,000 kilowatts. The resort’s architecture is designed to coexist with the landscape, using natural materials such as local Brac Island stone, Iroko wood, and terracotta to create a visual dialogue between the built environment and the natural surroundings.

The facade, crafted from ventilated wood, ensures a lightweight and transparent structure that blends seamlessly with the trees, providing an elegant fusion between the vertical wooden trunks and the resort’s architecture. This thoughtful design creates an intimate, low-impact atmosphere for guests, where the emphasis on environmental stewardship is evident in every detail.

The interior design is rooted in the elements of nature, with a colour palette inspired by the cerulean Adriatic Sea, the salty summer breeze, the pearly white rocks, and the lush green forests. The use of local stone, combined with sustainable materials such as brushed brass and Iroko wood, not only enhances the aesthetic connection with nature but also promotes durability and longevity in the resort’s infrastructure.

The resort’s sustainable ethos extends to custom-made furniture and vintage pieces, with 80% of the interior elements designed specifically for Maslina to ensure both quality and uniqueness.

By embracing a design philosophy that prioritises the preservation and enhancement of the natural landscape, Maslina Resort embodies the essence of SDG 9, demonstrating how innovation in architecture and design can contribute to sustainable development while enriching the guest experience.

A significant portion of the ingredients served in the restaurant is sourced from the resort's 7,000sqm Organic Garden, reflecting a dedication to minimising the environmental footprint. The concept behind the restaurant is to ensure the shortest supply chain—“from the earth/garden to the table”—ensuring that fresh, organic produce reaches guests with minimal environmental impact.

In line with this commitment to sustainability, the resort supports a no-plastic policy, including the use of eco-friendly materials such as linen coasters, re-used straw materials, and glass bottles for room amenities.

The restaurant’s wine list features 50% Croatian wines, 25% French wines, and the remainder from the European Union, reducing carbon emissions and celebrating the best of each terroir.

Additionally, Maslina Resort ensures responsible waste management by recycling and sorting waste, using biofilters for sewage treatment, and recycling coffee grounds for garden fertilisation.

The resort also makes use of eco-cleaning products for laundry, housekeeping, and stewarding, and features a saltwater electrolysis swimming pool, further reducing environmental impact.

The resort’s broader environmental efforts include the installation of solar panels, which have resulted in a reduction of energy consumption by 120,000 kWh annually, and the planting of over 1,000 olive trees. Maslina Resort also prioritises the use of local suppliers, ensuring a minimal carbon footprint for goods and services.

Maslina Resort demonstrates how luxury and environmental stewardship can work in harmony, providing guests with an unforgettable experience while making a positive impact on the planet.

The resort has partnered with Croatian fashion designer Sara LonÄŤarić of black pearl to create uniforms inspired by the rich heritage of Hvar. The monochrome palette of white, olive, and terracotta reflects the island’s stone walls, pine forests, and historical architecture, beautifully merging Mediterranean simplicity with French style.

These eco-conscious, minimalist uniforms are made entirely from organic, GOTS-certified fabrics, ensuring that sustainability is woven into every aspect of the resort’s operations.

Maslina Resort actively supports local athletes, including Olympic sailors and triathletes from Hvar Island, providing them with sponsorships and increasing their visibility on a global stage. The resort also plays a key role in community development, contributing to the construction of a school in Africa and supporting local organisations such as the football and judo clubs in Stari Grad.

Over 60% of Maslina’s employees are women, and the resort is dedicated to promoting gender equality, offering HR programmes to foster equality in the workplace and empowering female employees to take leadership roles and be ambassadors for the brand.

The resort’s collaboration with local schools and universities further strengthens its ties to the community, offering educational opportunities and fostering an understanding of the region’s culture, history, and sustainable practices.

The resort offers sustainable wooden COCO-MAT bikes for guests to explore the nearby town, and is committed to making the experience accessible for all with rooms designed for guests with disabilities.

By fostering strong, sustainable partnerships within the local and global community, Maslina Resort demonstrates the power of collaboration in achieving long-term impact.

Through these partnerships, Maslina contributes to the well-being of the local community, supports gender equality, and encourages a deeper connection to Hvar’s rich cultural heritage, all while promoting a sustainable and mindful approach to luxury
